In 1950, Yongan Siang was separated from Mituo Siang and became an individual administrative district. In the past five decades, people in Yongan has been working very hard in the development of aquaculture farming and that further punctuates Yongan's features of being a fishing village based on its past history of net fishing. During that time, most people were engaged in net fishing and had unstable income. There used to have a saying in "Siin Cu Z Jhuang," "People come to Yongan from Singang only for borrowing money or paying debts back," showing the harshness in farming lives. But now with rich experience and advanc- ed skills in aquaculture farming, now Yongan has created incredible production value that could not be imaged in the past.

Much more diversified living styles now have been seen in Yongan comparing with traditional living style in a fishing village. Residents in the past left many valuable cultural heritage here in Yongan including traditional Fujiian building, net fishing technology and artifacts, fishing equipment, clustering of salt field village, temples, and so on, the result of previous contribution and collective wisdom.

    Yongan Village
Yongan Village is the administrative head- quarters of Yongan Siang, located at Yongan Road with scattered government organs, stores, and stands.

Yongan Village was the part of inner sea; it was till Jiacing era of Cing Dynasty, lagoons were formed and residents came to build fishing ponds. At the beginning, there was no village gathering. In the years of Tongjh of Cing Dynasty, down- town area of Jiading was flooded and some people, thus, moved to Yongan and built a new village named "Siin Cu Z"; later plague hit Kansiia and Sankuaicuo and many moved in and formed a bigger village. Under the administration of Mituokang, "Siin Cu Z" of Yongan Village belonged to old Gangkojhuang. Finally, it separated from Mituo Siang and became an administrative district in 1950, forming the largest clustering of Yongan, the poli- tical, economic, and transformation center.

    Weisin Village
Located at southeast side of Yongan Siang and at the border with Benjhou Li of Gangshan, Weisin Village is the home of Yongan Siang Industrial Park, the gateway to Gangshan and Mituo. According to historical record, in the era of Mingjheng, the people ofNingjing King came to settle down here and Bamboo Gang and Kansia were early developed clustering. Legend had it that one of residents passed the exam of Jiinshi, but it was not recorded in historical document. Kansia was disesta- blished during Japanese ruling over Taiwan and Bamboo Gang became a well- known village.

Two meanings have been applied to Bamboo Gang. One refers to the ditch north to Bamboo Gang, the old trace of inner sea on land; another is small unknown port within inner sea. Due to the complicate formation of inner sea topogra- phy, continuously rising land attracted people to come for cultivation.

The name of "Weisin" was given due to the administration under Weisin Li Wannian Sian in Mingjheng era.
